Bookbinding Workshop

Saturday 3rd August: 10am to 4pm
For ages 13 up. All abilities.

For anyone interested in making artist books, or developing their own books for scrap booking, collecting, drawing or taking notes.

The workshop focusses on the introduction to a range of book binding techniques. These include a three hole stitch, Japanese stab stitch and wire ‘O’ binding.

The group (maximum group size of five people) will experiment with a range of paper stocks and cards - developing their knowledge about paper types, grain and paper technology.

We stop at 1pm for lunch and reconvene one hour later for the afternoon session. A light lunch with refreshments is provided as part of the workshop.

Your own choice of words maximum length between four and eight words to be set and printed on the smaller Farley proofing press. By the end of the day, each member will have produced two prints. They will be posted three days after the workshop once they are dry.

Guest aprons are provided. Glue and ink can (and does) get everywhere, so please don't wear anything too smart for the workshop.

Please arrive at 9.30 on the morning of the workshop so we have time to introduce ourselves have a tea or coffee before the workshop begins.

Please note: any children under the age of eighteen attending the workshop must be accompanied by an adult
